Hello spooky spuds! Sorry for the extremely long delay from posting. To be honest to you my lovely readers, I was caught up in a bit of heartbreak, anxiety, and moving! That’s right yall, I moved to Austin, Texas about 2 months ago! While I have been here, I have been mostly eating Tacos… *GASP!* I know. But can’t I have two favorite foods? ANYWHO! In the last several months since I wrote, I have eaten my fair share of spuds. Some of my favorites worth mentioning are the Bolo Fries from The Daily Poutine in Disney Springs and the Carne Asada Fries from Lolitas Taco Shop in San Diego. I was very fortunate to travel A LOT this past summer. I went to Disney World, Tucson, San Diego, and of course I’m now permanently in Austin.
While in Austin I have in fact been able to enjoy some delicious fries. This post is sort of a lame one, because its about the fries from Shake Shack…I know they are “fast food” and quite boring in the realm of fries. Even though I lived in NYC and extremely close to Boston as well, I HAVE NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE. It was my chance to finally give them a try. The best part was, there wasn’t a line here! For the most part, Shake Shack on the east coast always has crazy lines. People in Austin care more about their tacos and BBQ and less about burgers and fries, so I was in the clear!

Regular Fry – $2.99

- Aroma – 6
- Texture – 8
- Flavor –7
- Freshness – 5
- Value – 7
- Wow-Factor – HOLY CRINKLE CUT
Alright so… I didn’t LOVE these guys. The smell was pretty average, nothing to drool over. The texture was great however, nice and fluffy on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside. Flavor had a nice starchiness and good amount of salt, but yet again, nothing special. Freshness was where they REALLY took a hit. I felt like they were probably just frozen and then fried, which is okay, but if that is the way its done, they need another gimmick. For 2.99 though, definitely worth it. I got a fairly large amount of fries that I couldn’t finish on my own. Here is where the wow factor came in… once I dipped one of those puppies into my chocolate and peanut butter milk shake I was like “HOLY CRINKLE CUT!” These fries are definitely meant to be a vehicle for their shakes… I guess that’s why its called Shake Shake and not like Fry Factory or some shit. Definitely forth a try, but not my new “Go to” place when I am craving fries.
I am sure I will write longer posts about these other guys but some other places that are worth a try is Native Hostile and Bar for their BBQ Nacho Waffle Fries and Stiles Switch BBQ for some of their seasoned fries. Enjoy your spoopy halloween my friends!
